The main character of Dragon Ball, and a substantial character in DBZ, Goku was sent to Earth as an infant. He could easily eliminate all life on the planet, but he falls into a ravine and hits his head a baby (and becomes a “pure heart”). Now with his orders lost, Goku becomes a friendly boy who fights on the side of justice. He's not too intelligent, but a natural when it comes to the martial arts and manipulating his Ki (energy). By far, Goku has the most abilities of any of the Z warriors (Cell is the only character with more). He marries Chi-Chi, daughter of Ox King; and together they have two sons, Gohan and Goten. At the end of DBZ, Gohan and Videl have a daughter, Pan. Goku then becomes a grandfather. Emperor Pilaf uses the black star Dragon Balls to turn Goku into a child again. On a journey with Pan and Trunks, they go through many adventures to retrieve the black star Dragon Balls. Furthermore, Goku is the biggest pig in the entire universe and is always famished (and eats like 20 platters of food for each meal^.^)

Son of Goku, he is initially trained by Piccolo at a very young age after the battle with Raditz. He looks up to Piccolo for being such a great fighter, and tries to imitate him by wearing similar clothes. He has the potential to become the most powerful being in the universe, yet since he cannot always fully utilize his strength, he can be defeated. Gohan is the first Saiyan to go to the Super Saiyan 2 (ascended saiyan) level, but after the Cell saga he spends little time training and focuses on his studies. Also in DBZ, Gohan portrays the role of the Great Saiyaman, in order to save the city. Later in DBGT, Gohan doesn’t play that big of a role, but he wore geeky glasses to make him look more intelligent.

Goten is the second son of Goku and Chi-Chi. He and Trunks spend most of their time together, and are very good friends. Goten exhibited high power when he went Super Saiyan at the age of seven. He bears a very strong resemblance to Goku, and wears a miniature version of Goku's karate Gi. Goten is usually happy, but has a habit for throwing tantrums to get something he wants. He had the privilege of learning the fusion dance (with Chibi Trunks) and fusing into Gotenks to defeat Majin Buu. When he becomes older, he is obsessed with girls and talking on the phone.

Pan, a.k.a Pan-Chan, is Goku's granddaughter. She is the most powerful female in all of Dragonball. Pan is 1/4 Saiyan, and she is Gohan and Videl's daughter. Pan is very adventurous, has a very feisty attitude, and can get into trouble, usually with Trunks and Goku. Trunks, Goku, and Pan go everywhere together (Pan does not like being left alone).

Vegeta was named after the Planet Vegeta. Vegeta's father is the king of all Saiyans (King Vegeta) so that makes Vegeta the Prince. Vegeta escaped the death of his planet because he was impatient and wanted a real assignment from Frieza and no more combat drills. Vegeta lands on Earth to kill Goku and gather the Dragon Balls to wish for immortality. But his plans go bad when he finds out the hard way, that Goku is stronger than him. Vegeta is almost killed by Goku's best friend, Krillin, but Goku decided to spare his life so that someday they can fight again. Vegeta goes off to recovery and gets healed and travels to the planet Namek in search of the second set of Dragon Balls. He runs into trouble when he finds out that Frieza is also on the planet. But lucky for him Goku and his friends also are on Namek, so Vegeta decides to team up with them to kill Frieza and make his wish. But instead Vegeta gets killed and is wished back with the Dragon Balls. Vegeta spends the next couple of years training to become stronger than Goku but once again during the cell games Goku proves that he is better than Vegeta. When Babidi comes to earth to resurrect a horrible monster named Majin Buu, Vegeta makes a deal with Babidi to unleash the evil that once was in his heart so that he could get a unimaginable amount of power. Vegeta uses this power to finally beat Goku in a fight. When Vegeta kills himself (while fighting Majin Buu) and goes to other world he finds out that Goku hid his true power from Vegeta and that Goku is a Super Saiyan 3. Furious that Goku is still stronger than him Vegeta refuses to help kill Majin buu. But Vegeta finally sets his Saiyan Pride aside and decides to team up with Goku to kill Buu. While Vegeta is watching Goku fight Kid Buu Vegeta excepts the fact that Goku is always going to be stronger than him no matter what he does. In DBGT, Vegeta does a lot to help Goku (and turns into an SS4 artificially). Vegeta was also taken over by Baby, because he thought that Vegeta was the world’s strongest Saiyan ever.

Trunks is the first child of Vegeta and Bulma. There are two Trunks' that exist in the universe: Future Trunks and Chibi Trunks. "Future Trunks" comes from a parallel universe 14 years in the future where evil androids ruled the Earth. He goes back in time after the death of Frieza to prepare the Z warriors for the androids' arrival. So as not to prevent his own birth, he tells no one of his heritage, except Goku. "Chibi Trunks" is born a little before Future Trunks returns to his own time. Trunks likes to hang out with Goten and they are very good friends. When he and Goten are together, he has a tendency to get them in trouble. Unfortunately for him, he is an only child. Trunks has purple hair and displays extreme levels of power, he reaches Super Saiyan when Mirai Gohan taught him how to (in one of the movies). He finally turned into a Super Saiyan when his feelings were strong toward Mirai Gohan when he died. In DBGT, he goes along with Goku and Pan to find the black star Dragon Balls.
